Unlike other plans:
- No gatekeepers, no referrals to see a specialist—you are in control of your care.
- You have coverage whether or not you choose a participating medical provider—the Basic Medical Program provides coverage for medical services from non-participating providers (with higher out-of-pocket costs).
- Network benefits at any hospital participating with BlueCross and BlueShield Association BlueCard— PPO Program plus network benefits at non-network hospitals for urgent care, emergency care or when you don't have access to a network facility.
* Does not apply to enrollees who have coverage through a union Employee Benefit Fund.
